La Plagne is actually made up of 10 different ski resorts- 6 high altitude and 4 village resorts. It forms part of the Paradiski ski area of 425km of slopes up to an altitude of 3250m. The high altitude resorts include Aime la Plagne (2100m), Belle Plagne (2050m), Plagne Villages/Soleil (2050m), Plagne Bellecote (1930m), Plagne Centre (1970m) and Plagne 1800 (1800m). The low altitude resorts include Champagny en Vanoise (1250m), Plagne Montalbert (1350m), Montchavin, (1250m) and Les Coches (1450m). La Plagne is situated opposite the Mont-Blanc and Beaufortain ranges in the Savoie department of the Rhone-Alpes region and due to its high altitude and excellent location snow cover is virtually guaranteed during the ski season. There are many restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, bowling, convert evenings etc to keep you entertained and well-fed. Activities include skidoo and bobsleigh rides, ice skating, paragliding or freestyle on the 900m long snow park. For those looking to take it easy there are craftwork courses, guided tours, snowshoe trails and hiking. With its wonderful natural surroundings this is also a gret place to spend tranquil summer holidays.
